Education

Educating our children is done though many different ways. We have Sunday School, Children's Sermon, Children's Church, Confirmation & Vacation Bible School. Each means of teaching is adapted to the age of the child and is provided by wonderful volunteers with the guidance of Kristy LaBorde, our Children's Director.

  • Sunday School

Sunday School classes meet each Sunday at 9:45 in the education wing of the Sanctuary Building. The children ages 3-5 meet in room 116, Children in 1st-3rd grades meet in room 115, and children in 4th & 5th grades meet in the "pit".  Each class follows a lectionary type of Methodist curriculum for young children. This time involves a Bible Story, game, craft & singing.

  • Children's Sermon

In the first part of the 8:30 & 11am worship services, there is a time where the children can come forward and hear a Bible lesson. It is a fun, interactive time; it may even teach an adult a thing or two. If children do not wish to attend children's church after the message in the 11am service, they would return to their seats at this time.

  • GPS Kids

GPS Kids begins at 11 am. All children ages 3-11 are invited to participate in GPS Kids in the education wing of the sanctuary building.  Here, our children learn a new song, Bible verse and the ability to sign the Bible verse each month. They also make nice crafts that tie into the theme of the lesson. This program is supplemented with video "buddies" who learn the same lesson we are learning.

Vacation Bible School is one of the biggest outreaches of this ministry. We had close to 200 children involved last year. This labor of love results in children and adults powered up with Jesus!  children get to see, taste, hear, touch, and experience their lessons in such a fun, dynamic way.
